The MITRE Corporation is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a position as a Part Time On-Call (PTOC) Physical Security Shift Leader on our campus in Bedford, Massachusetts. The Physical Security Shift Leader is the first line supervisor; providing leadership, supervision and oversight over all physical security operations on their assigned shift. Shift Leaders must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of physical security practices, procedures, electronic security systems such as access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems; life safety systems, building fire alarm systems, emergency response procedures, risk management, conducting investigations. The Shift Leader independently directs the activities of the security officers, receptionists, and Security Operations Center. This is a Part-Time On-Call (PTOC) position that provides coverage based on operational needs. MITRE operates a 24/7/365 security program. Candidates must be available to work other shifts as needed, including 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. This position provides an opportunity for PTOC employees to be considered for full-time employment as positions become available.
Shift Leaders must have the ability to supervise others, develop staff into a cohesive team, manage their resources effectively, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions under sometimes stressful conditions. In the event of an emergency, the Shift Leader may assume the role of On-Scene Emergency Coordinator until the arrival of more senior personnel. While assigned to this position, and working with management, the Shift Leader represents MITRE's senior management regarding security and safety concerns.
Provides support to the Physical Security Operations Manager by inspecting and auditing functional areas of the group to ensure the highest level of service to the MITRE community. Performs duties that are essential to the protection of MITRE's assets and its personnel.

Security Operations:
Direct day-to-day security operations to ensure continuous protection of personnel, facilities, classified information, and company assets.
Ensure the Security Operations Center, reception areas, and security workspaces remain clean, organized, secure, and operationally ready.
Monitor campus security posture and respond to changing operational requirements.
Ensure Security Operations Center functions are performed in accordance with established procedures.
Review, evaluate, and approve Daily Activity Logs, Incident Reports, Shift Reports, and other operational documentation.
Ensure security systems, communications equipment, and emergency response equipment remain operational and mission ready.
Investigate equipment discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
Conduct routine and random patrols of all assigned facilities to identify security vulnerabilities, safety hazards, and procedural violations.
Perform compliance inspections related to:
Access control
Badge accountability
Visitor escort procedures
Package inspections
Information Security (InfoSec) requirements
Protection of classified, proprietary, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
Conduct weekly perimeter alarm testing and document results.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contractual requirements, and government security regulations.
Coordinate with Visitor Management and organizational stakeholders to support meetings, conferences, executive visits, and special events.
Assist with visitor badge preparation, access rosters, parking coordination, and event signage.
Maintain proficiency in all security, access control, visitor management, life safety, video surveillance, environmental monitoring, and emergency notification systems required to perform assigned duties.
Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the Physical Security mission.
