Summary: As a member of the Division of Student Success at Illinois Central College, the Student Success Advisor is essential in fostering positive student interactions, enhancing student-centered processes, cultivating a sense of belonging, and collaborating to support student success. Reporting directly to the Lead Student Success Advisor and focused on an assigned advising cluster area, this position helps to advance departmental and divisional goals while supporting the college’s overall mission and strategic priorities.
The Student Success Advisor is primarily responsible for advising students throughout their enrollment at ICC. This includes supporting students in the development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and beliefs they will need to succeed. The Student Success Advisor will also coach and assist students in career exploration and choosing programs of study, selecting courses and developing a personalized plan to completion. The Student Success Advisor will manage an identified caseload based on an advising cluster area. Using holistic advising approaches and student coaching methodologies, advisors will support students toward completion of identified academic, career, and personal goals.
The Student Success Advisor will also refer students to appropriate offices and individuals who can assist them in overcoming barriers to success. The primary focus of the Student Success Advisor is to develop intentional, personal relationships with students, which are designed to enhance student engagement and academic success.
Compensation for the PT Student Success Advisor is $23.08 - 25.97 an hour.
The working hours for this position are approximately 27–29 hours per week, typically scheduled across four weekdays between Monday and Friday. Standard hours are generally between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with one remote evening coverage day per week that typically runs until approximately 6:00 p.m.
January and August are peak advising and enrollment periods. During approximately three weeks within those months, vacation time is generally not approved to ensure adequate advising coverage, and one required Saturday advising day is scheduled. Additional hours may also be available during these periods to support increased student demand.
