PT - Office Clerk, Quartzsite Learning Center

Salary:

$15.15 per hour

Summary of Function:

Provides support services for students, staff, faculty, and the public of La Paz County.

Typical Duties:

  • Serves Students. Assists in the enrollment process, financial aid, and in the handling of all confidential materials pertaining to AWC, ABE, ESOL/ELL/ELA student records.

  • Provides general college and specific departmental information to staff, AWC, ABE, ESOL/ELL/ELA students, and the public on the phone, online, and in person. Answers phones, takes detailed messages, and transfers calls to the appropriate departments district-wide.

  • Provides event support. Directs patrons to the event space; answers questions related to the event, including proper use of equipment; empties trash receptacles; submits event support communication logs as needed; ensures that event locations are properly locked, secured, and free of any attendees prior to leaving.

  • Provides support services for AWC, ABE, ESOL/ELL/ELA students when in-person, remote, and with distance education courses and learning environments.

  • Ensures that all areas of the assignment are cleaned, properly locked, and secured at the shift's end.

  • Participates in and successfully completes work-related training.

  • Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • One year of experience working in customer service or working directly with the public, or working in a related field

  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered

Position Type & Work Schedule:

  • Part-time

  • Up to 19 hours per week

  • Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures

  • Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operations

  • Knowledge of student support services, resources, and enrollment processes

  • Knowledge of customer service practices and basic records management in a front-facing environment

  • Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one's own time

  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature

  • Skill in providing front-line customer service across in-person, phone, and virtual environments

  • Skill in maintaining organized records and supporting office and event operations

  • Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment

Work Environment:

  • Inside office environment with normal noise and lighting levels

  • Work is performed in an open office environment with staff, students, and community contact and interruptions

  • Working environment may include various locations across the service district, with varying noise levels, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department, or institutional needs

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking

  • May lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times, a minimum of 10 pounds

  • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or twist

Travel:

  • May be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation, and as needed to support program, department, and institutional needs
