GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Tutor and assist students in seated and virtual formats in a variety of subjects, including math and science, in the Academic Support Center. Develop and maintain activities in the Academic Support Center. Work as a team member with faculty and staff across campus. Maintain records and prepare a variety of reports. Coordinate schedules for other part-time tutors. This position reports to the Dean of Learning Resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in upper-level math courses or advanced math skills
- Familiarity with biology and chemistry
- Teaching and/or tutoring experience
- Community College experience
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Tutor and assist students in person and virtually.
- Provide general assistance to students involving tutoring, computer-assisted instruction, and other appropriate remediation strategies.
- Train and coordinate Academic Support Center tutors and work-study students.
- Develop marketing materials for the Center and promote it to faculty, staff, and students.
OTHER DUTIES
- Communicate the mission of the Academic Support Center to all faculty and staff.
- Provide general assistance to students involving tutoring, computer-assisted instruction, and other appropriate remediation strategies.
- Plan and implement academic workshops.
- Assist students with the operation of computers and other related equipment in the Academic Support Center.
- Develop and schedule the centers operating hours. Coordinate all center activities.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with student services staff and instructors.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
