Description

Summary

The Part-Time Career Development Coordinator provides operational, programmatic, and customer service support for the Career Services Center. This position assists the Director of Career Services and the Academic & Career Exploration Coach with daily center operations, supporting career programs and events, maintaining career resources and technology platforms, and delivering frontline career assistance to students. The ideal candidate is organized, student-focused, adaptable, and able to assist students in accessing career resources, navigating technology, and have strong communication skills.

Knowledge & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Serve as a point of contact for students seeking Career Services.
  • Assist students with scheduling appointments and navigating Career Services resources.
  • Provide guidance on career resources, Handshake, Focus 2 Career, and other online platforms.
  • Assist students with résumé reviews using approved departmental resources and templates.
  • Assist with the coordination of career fairs, employer information sessions, workshops, classroom presentations, and special events.
  • Prepare promotional materials and event communications, per JCC guidelines.
  • Maintain updated career information on digital monitor.
  • Assist with maintaining inventories of marketing materials and career resources.
  • Assist with outreach campaigns promoting Career Services programs and resources.
  • Work collaboratively with Student Affairs departments, faculty, staff and other external partners to support career services initiatives.
  • Provide Career Services Lab coverage as needed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum: Bachelor Degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum: One (1) to two (2) years of experience related to providing support to educational programs; preferably in career readiness.

Additional Information

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet usage. Familiarity with Focus2, Handshake, O*Net and/or other career resources are a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Career Development Facilitator (CDF) preferred; not required
