    Job Description:

    Central State Hospital is seeking a Psychologist

    • Provides treatment to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance, developmental, and behavioral health needs.

    • Develops and/or completes any warranted risk assessments and psychological testing, behavioral plans, and/or individual and group therapies.

    • Assists in crisis interventions.

    • Completes initial assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and assists with discharge planning.

    • Participates in a multidisciplinary treatment team to assess diagnosis, danger, benefit, and least restrictive level of care.

    • Provides supervision to practicum students and interns, if appropriately credentialed.

    • Testifies for involuntary commitment hearings as needed (Note: New psychologists receive training, mentorship, and opportunities to observe before independently testifying).

    • Conduct competency evaluations and occasional criminal responsibility evaluations. Testify when subpoenaed. (Note: Training can also be provided for these tasks).

    Preferred Credentials:

    Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology.

    Licensed by the Kentucky Board of Psychology.

    Must be in process of pursuing licensure.
