About the role
Qualifications
Must be a current student.
Must be able to work most weekdays and weekends.
Previous experience with animals (personal, volunteer, or professional) preferred.
Comfortable handling animals in a calm and respectful manner.
Ability to follow directions and adhere to safety protocols.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Must be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks without supervision.
Must be responsible and dependable.
Referral preferred.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in an animal lab setting.
Exposure to animal dander, odors, and cleaning agents.
Will work involve working independently or as part of a small team.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Animal Caretaker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and routinely lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Ability to use small step ladders to perform work.
Handling, restraining, and moving animals as needed.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to ensure people can perform the essential functions.
Expected Hours of Work:
The Animal Caretaker must be able to work 7 days a week, depending on the agreed schedule.
Daily assigned work must occur between 7AM and 9PM.
Weekly work will average about 5-10 hours per week.
Student employees may not work more than 20 hours per week during the school..
