What You Will Do:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join a dynamic and collaborative inpatient psychiatry team at Ascension Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph in Wichita, KS. You will work alongside a dedicated team of 3 physicians and 2 APPs in a full-time, inpatient position, providing vital services in newly updated facilities within a robust health system network.

 

  • Join an established team of 3 physicians and 2 APPs
  • Weekend structure: 1:4 weekend coverage
  • Call: 1:2 weekend, variable during the week
  • Practice setting: inpatient
  • Employed position within a nonprofit health system
  • Certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
  • Eligible for Kansas PA licensure and DEA registration
  • Obtains patient history, performs assessments and physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic studies, and develops/implements treatment plans for patients on the inpatient psychiatry service.
  • In collaboration with the supervising physician, provides direct treatment and management of acute and chronic mental health conditions, and coordinates discharge planning with case management.

What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Kansas Board of Healing Arts obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience preferred.
