    Description

    I. BASIC FUNCTION:

    Responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and both formal and "curbside" behavioral

    health consultations for patients at FCHC. Offers emergency services, facilitates hospitalizations for inpatient care,

    assists indigent patients with accessing free medication programs, and provides education on diagnoses and

    medications to patients and families. Acts as a consultant on diagnosis, treatment, and program development.

    III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Completes psychiatric evaluations.

    2. Provides Behavioral Health (BH) consultations, both formal and "curbside".

    3. Medication management of patients needing extended psychiatric care.

    4. Provides emergency services to outpatients of FCHC during contracted hours.

    5. Facilitates the hospitalization of patients who require inpatient care.

    6. Assists indigent patients with medication needs by utilizing free medication programs.

    7. Provides diagnosis and medication education to patients and their families.

    8. Maintains agreed-upon level of productivity.

    9. Completes disability questionnaires for psychiatric patients applying for disability.

    10. Refers patients to appropriate community resources such as vocational rehabilitation.

    11. Conducts regular meetings with the BH team to coordinate BH Care and BH support of Medication Assisted

    Treatment.

    1. Regularly supervisory meetings with individual team members (includes systematic evaluation of patient care

    and documentation).

    1. Provides feedback and monitors continuing education and staff development.

    2. Assures compliance with annual staff performance evaluations and job description reviews for BH program

    staff under their supervision.

    1. Ensures optimized coverage of the clinic's working hours (i.e., Coordination of team schedules and vacation

    time).

    1. Acts as a consultant to other members of the BH team regarding diagnosis and treatment.

    2. Assists through consultation in establishing psychiatric programs and policies.

    3. Performs other duties as assigned.

    IV. PERIODIC DUTIES:

    1. Participates in Health Center staff problem solving groups.

    2. Attends and participates in department meetings, etc.

    3. Contributes services to community public health activities as appropriate

    V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

    Inside Center: All Inclusive.

    Outside Center: Patients/Clients, students, vendors, community health agencies, professional colleagues,

    professional organizations, and education institutions, grant agencies, physician offices, City,

    State and Federal agencies, etc.

    VI. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    VII. QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. License in good standing to practice medicine as a Physician/Surgeon in the State of Missouri required.

    2. Drug license including DEA and BNDD numbers required.

    3. Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment numbers including Medicare UPIN required.

    4. Successful completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program required.

    5. Board certified in Psychiatry required.

    6. Two (2) years experience in the field of Psychiatry required.

    7. Work experience or strong desire to work in urban health care setting preferred.

    8. Current membership(s) and active participation in respective medical specialty is preferred.

    VIII. CONTINUING EDUCATION:

    • Active professional development, as demonstrated through attendance of seminars, continuing education

    programs, etc. is required.

    • Satisfactory maintenance of continuing education standards as established by the Missouri State Board of

    Registration for the Healing Arts is required.
