Full-time psychiatry on the Chesapeake Bay — inpatient, outpatient and ED, with a team that has your back.
Hampton sits at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay in the heart of Hampton Roads, a 1.8-million-person metro that includes Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. You get waterfront living, four real seasons, no state tax on military retirement pay, and housing that costs a fraction of the Northeast corridor. Beaches are minutes away, Colonial Williamsburg and the Outer Banks are day trips, Richmond is an hour up I-64 and Washington, D.C. is under three hours. The region is home to Hampton University, William & Mary, Old Dominion and Eastern Virginia Medical School, so there is real academic and cultural depth alongside the coastline.
Newport News/Williamsburg International (PHF) – about 15 minutes from the facility. Norfolk International (ORF), with nonstops to Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Chicago, New York and Orlando, is about 30 minutes away.
The Hampton VA Healthcare System is one of the busiest and fastest-growing VA health systems in the country, serving veterans across southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Mental Health is a flagship service line with an inpatient psychiatry unit, a full outpatient clinic, emergency department coverage, residents and advanced practice providers, and an integrated electronic health record. A limited number of assignments may also support the Virginia Beach Community Based Outpatient Clinic at 244 Clearfield Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
