Psychiatric Technician Job Details:
Location: Houston, TX 77002
Available Shifts: 12 hour shifts
6:00am - 6:00pm
6:00pm - 6:00am
Starting Pay Rate: $20.00 / Hourly (Based on experience)
Temporary to hire
Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients physical and emotional condition and report changes to medical staff.
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
- Observe and document patient behavior, vital signs, and progress.
- Support therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitation activities.
- Provide emotional support and help patients develop coping and daily living skills.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and secure patient environment.
- Follow care plans, facility policies, and safety procedures.
- Assist with interventions for patients who may become aggressive or pose a safety risk, according to training and facility procedures.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and appointments as needed.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Postsecondary certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Services, Behavioral Health, or a related healthcare field preferred.
- Associate degree in behavioral health or related field preferred.
Job Requirements:
- Must have 2+ years of current experience.
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassion, patience, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Document patient information and follow instructions.
- Must follow all patient safety, confidentiality, and facility policies.
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist or physically support patients as required.
- CPR/BLS certification may be required depending on the facility.
