Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Licensed Psychiatric Technician, under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides nursing care to psychiatric patients by implementing and evaluating the established plan of care; carrying out assigned tasks; working collaboratively with members of the nursing and multidisciplinary team.

Salary: $30.67 - $40.48 Hourly

Job Qualifications

CPR - BLS through AHA or ARC REQUIRED

California Psychiatric Technician Licensure REQUIRED

At least 6 months experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting or equivalent - REQUIRED

The Licensed Psychiatric Technician/Senior Licensed Psychiatric Technician must have a working knowledge of:

Group dynamics

Psychological functioning and deviations from normal

Growth and development throughout the life span

Techniques of therapeutic communication

Drug administration

Management of assaultive behavior

Read documents written in standard English text

Write legibly in grammatically correct English

Speak to patients/families and colleagues using appropriate English grammar

Use techniques of therapeutic communication

Observe and report patients' behavior

Establish written goals and objectives for each activity

Plan and implement individual, large and small group programs/activities

Evaluate patients' strength and problem areas

Modify and/or adapt group techniques to improve individual and/or group treatment outcomes

Physically participate in patient activities

Physically apply holds, restraints and protective devices

Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group activities to psychiatric patients on an acute psychiatric inpatient

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
