Psychiatric Social WorkerJob Title: Behavioral Services Unit Psychiatric Social Worker (Adolescent)Department: BSUReports To: Social Work Team Lead, Unit DirectorJob Summary: The inpatient clinical social worker completes a comprehensive psychosocial evaluation, safety assessments, and other screening tools as appropriate for assessment. The Social Worker role provides supportive individual, group and family psychotherapy as needed; treatment planning coordination with the rest of the multidisciplinary team and case management for identified risk factors and/or barriers to services for patients admitted for psychiatric care. The role integrates clinical expertise with social advocacy, ensuring patients receive holistic care both inpatient and in transition to outpatient services.Job Responsibilities include: Conduct a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and risk assessments to identify mental health conditions, safety concerns, and social needs to include screening tools and assessments per OMH standards for inpatient evaluation and treatmentProvide immediate intervention in psychiatric emergencies, including suicide risk assessment and stabilizationCarry a caseload and deliver individual, group, and family psychotherapy using evidence-based techniquesCollaborate with primary care providers, outpatient services, and community resources; to include initiating referrals and identifying resources and arrange discharge planning and follow-up per OMH Guidelines for discharge from inpatient psychiatric careInform patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment planFacilitate and co-facilitate family and provider meetings as appropriate to provide psychoeducation pertaining to diagnosis, treatment recommendations as well as recommendations and after care planning.Ensure patients access appropriate resources, accommodations, and rights within the hospital and community systems. This includes understanding and providing patients' rights under Mental Hygiene Law and ensuring legal process is coordinated.Maintain accurate, confidential case records and participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary consultations. This will include participation in treatment team rounds and social work meetings.Primary role will be on the Adolescent unit with additional responsibilities serving the adult population based on the unit census and social work needs. Requirements: Education/Licensure - Master's degree in Social Work. LMSW or LCSW license required. Experience - Inpatient mental health and/or social work experience preferred. Must possess a non-judgmental attitude and the ability to relate to people of all backgrounds. Computer literacy and knowledge of EMR systems. Resilience to cope with challenging situations.Physicality - Ability to stand, sit or ambulate for long periods of time. Ability to mobilize freely around nursing units and perform required data entry into EMR.
