    Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Salt Lake City, Utah | Full-Time | CHARTER

At First Step House, ''We help people build lives of meaning, purpose, and recovery.'' Everything we do is centered around that mission, and we are looking for people who want their work to have a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we serve.

We are hiring a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our Medical Clinic team in Salt Lake City!

    About the Role

The PMHNP provides concurrent mental health and substance use disorder care to clients of First Step House who are working with a primary treatment team. This position primarily serves individuals receiving treatment for a substance use disorder who also experience co-occurring mental health conditions.

Many of the people we serve come to First Step House from incarceration, homelessness, shelters, or detox programs and may have had little or no consistent access to medical care. The PMHNP also provides psychiatric care to individuals living in First Step House permanent supportive housing who are experiencing serious mental illness.

In this role, you will independently assess, diagnose, prescribe, and monitor psychiatric medications, while collaborating closely with therapists and other members of the treatment team to provide safe, coordinated, and high-quality care.

The PMHNP will also complete training and provide medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders. Success in this position requires an understanding of the complex needs of individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, homelessness, and other barriers to consistent healthcare.

We're looking for a PMHNP who is clinically confident, organized, collaborative, and able to establish strong professional boundaries while maintaining a compassionate, client-centered approach.
