Job Details
Job Details / Responsibilities:
Provide patient assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and behavioral health disorders in accordance with statutes, regulations, and protocols
Perform assessments to evaluate presenting problems, determine needs, and develop appropriate treatment plan goals
Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate, and document individual treatment plans and client progress
Order therapeutic and diagnostic tests; interpret and explain results to patients and families
Prescribe medications in accordance with treatment guidelines and in collaboration with the psychiatrist
Prepare accurate documentation including progress notes, event notifications, assessments, treatment plans, case reviews, and discharge plans in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements
Monitor caseload daily to ensure timely completion of all required documentation
Provide individual and group counseling, including crisis management as needed
Facilitate coordination of care through case review, therapeutic interventions, and progress monitoring
Deliver consistent, efficient, cost-effective, quality care
Work in an independent and interdependent relationship with medical staff for consultation, collaboration, or referral
Serve as a patient advocate protecting patient rights
Communicate effectively to educate patients and families about treatment plans, interventions, and prescribed treatments/medications
Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records consistent with NCQA, Joint Commission, and state standards
Demonstrate effective work organization and comply with all organizational policies, including attendance, safety, infection control, and universal precautions
Analyze and assimilate new knowledge from professional development into clinical practice
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted graduate professional nurse and nurse practitioner registration/licensure
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing followed by a Master’s degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing from a state-approved and accredited school
Knowledgeable in the broad field of mental and behavioral health
Skill in patient interviewing, examination, and assessment
Ability to work independently and make independent judgments/decisions regarding patient care within scope of practice
Computer skills essential
Credentialing for clinic privileges and satisfaction of employment requirements (including pre-employment physical and mandatory training)
Personal and professional integrity required for malpractice coverage
Commitment to staying current with mental health practice standards through CME and ongoing education
Proficient communication in English (speaking, hearing, seeing, reading, writing) for assessments and care delivery
