The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide outpatient psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, counseling, and ongoing patient care. This role works closely with the Psychiatrist, Practice Manager, nursing staff, and broader healthcare team while maintaining appropriate clinical independence and patient advocacy.

Job Details
· Conduct psychiatric assessments, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning
· Develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress
· Manage psychiatric medications in accordance with treatment guidelines and applicable regulations
· Order and interpret appropriate therapeutic and diagnostic testing
· Provide individual and group counseling and crisis intervention as needed
· Coordinate referrals to healthcare, social service, and community resources
· Collaborate with Psychiatrist and healthcare team on complex patient needs
· Educate patients and families regarding treatment, medications, and therapeutic interventions
· Advocate for patient rights, safety, and continuity of care
· Complete assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, case reviews, and discharge documentation
Must have skills and credentials:
· Active, unrestricted, current nurse practitioner registration in the Nebraska
· ANCC certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
· Bachelor's degree in Nursing
· Master's degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing from an accredited program
· Knowledge of mental and behavioral health assessment and treatment
· Strong patient interviewing, examination, and clinical assessment skills
· Ability to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
· Proficiency with computer-based clinical documentation
· Ability to obtain clinic privileges and satisfy applicable credentialing requirements
· Commitment to maintaining current clinical knowledge through continuing education and CME
· Ability to meet applicable employment, safety, attendance, and professional standards
