New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC) is an award-winning not-for-profit agency dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexities, chronic illnesses, and disabilities throughout the five boroughs. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Psychiatric/Mental Health Coordinator to join its Comprehensive Healthcare CenterNAC operates a Comprehensive Healthcare Center comprising of an Article 28 Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Article 29i Voluntary Foster Care Agency Clinic, and an Article 31 Mental Health Clinic, (collectively known as "the Clinic") where care is delivered in collaboration with NAC's outstanding teams of social workers, behavior specialists, education specialists, mental health professionals, physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff. The clinics are located at NAC's main office on 825 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Title of Position: Psychiatric/Mental Health CoordinatorPosition Type: Per DiemSalary Range: $80/hrLocation: 825 7th Avenue, New York, NY, 10019Department/Program: Comprehensive Healthcare Center, Health and Mental HealthResponsibilities:Essential FunctionsThe Psychiatric/Mental Health Coordinator has a range of duties, as follows:Prospectively follow all children in foster care, receiving mental health care and ensure all clinical and administrative needs are met related to that careReview psychological and psychiatric evaluations and lead follow up on any referrals for careCollaborate with intake coordinator to address immediate mental health needsConduct urgent psychiatric evaluations as neededConduct Spanish-language psychiatric evaluations as neededDrive the process of obtaining consent for and addressing administrative barriers to receiving mental health treatment through collaboration with mental health clinicians, case planners, and parents as neededEnsure referrals for medication management are followed throughEnsure all ACS protocols around mental health treatment are being followed in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidelines relating to seeking treatment, vital sign and lab monitoring requirements, and internal NAC proceduresCollaborate closely with staff in Foster Care, Mental Health, and Medical/Nursing departmentsEnters data pertinent to these encounters in the paper record, evolving electronic health record, or both, as neededCommunicate effectively with all team members to support a cohesive work environment.Additional TasksProvides clinical consultation and advocacy around mental health care needs to other departments (ex.
