    Description

    This position will support the Mental Health Department at various branch clinic locations of the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA.The Clinical Psychologist (IBHC) will perform a full range of Clinical Psychologist procedures on-site, within the scope of clinical privileges. Services are provided at the Branch Health Clinics (BHCs) located within Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in support of Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton (NHCP), CA. The HCWs will be assigned to temporary locations until their primary locations become available. The distance between the temporary and primary location is approximately 10 miles. The HCW is responsible for a full range of diagnostic examinations, the development of comprehensive treatment plans when indicated, delivery of treatment within the personnel and equipment capabilities of the treatment facility, provision of mandated medical surveillance and preventive services, and the quality and timeliness of treatment records and reports required to document procedures performed and care provided. The HCW shall refer patients to staff specialists for consultation opinions and continuation of care and shall see the patients of other government staff health care providers who have been referred for consultation and treatment.Perform consultations, differential diagnoses, and treatment planning for all disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (current edition) published by the American Psychiatric Association.Work closely with clinical staff and/or base personnel regarding patient awareness of mental health wellness programs (addictions, stress management, group therapies).Provide patient consultations requested by Naval Hospital staff health care providers within guidelines established by the Naval Hospital.Directly evaluate difficult and complex cases to determine appropriate placement in Inpatient/Outpatient care or referral to other agencies and to determine the appropriate types of individual/group interventions to be employed.Communicate the results of the evaluations and participate in therapy program development and consultation with all levels of staff.Provide professional assistance to the Substance and Alcohol rehabilitation Program (SARP) program, as requested.Provide therapeutic treatment and evaluation of patients with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Combat Stress Disorders and Traumatic Brain Injury.Other duties as assigned.
