WORK LOCATION: This position allows for a hybrid / flexible work schedule with a mix of work spent on site at the Sargent & Lundy office and working remote from home.Ā 

Ā 

This engineering consultant position is within Sargent & Lundy's Electrical Analytical Division and will be responsible forĀ the following:Ā 

  • Performing protection system calculations and analysis to support a wide variety of clientsĀ 
  • Develop relay settings associated with HV/EHV Substation and Transmission LinesĀ 
  • Develop relay settings for Power Station Generators, Transformers, Motors and Medium Voltage and Low Voltage protection devicesĀ 
  • Aiding clients toĀ comply withĀ NERC PRC standardsĀ 
  • Relaying Event Report analysisĀ

Essential skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringĀ (background in Power/Power Systems) and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree.Ā Master'sĀ or PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred.Ā 
  • 10+Ā yearsĀ relevant engineering experience with an emphasisĀ inĀ power system protectionĀ 
  • Experience with microprocessor-based relays (SEL, Beckwith, GE, ABB,Ā etc) and electro-mechanical relaysĀ 
  • Experience with micro-processor basedĀ relay software (SELĀ AcSELerator, GEĀ Enervista,Ā etc)Ā 
  • Experience with Generator, Transformer, and Motor Protection studiesĀ 
  • Experience with HV/EHV substation and Line RelayingĀ 
  • Experience with LV Breaker protectionĀ 
  • Experience using protection system software such as ETAP, SKM, and AspenĀ 
  • Experience with NERC PRC compliance evaluationsĀ 


Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Successful completion of the Professional Engineering (PE) exam
  • Experience performing transient analysis of power systems using software such as: PSS/E, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD and EMTP-RVĀ 
  • Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE orĀ EasyPower Ā

Compensation Range: $142,710.00 - $215,440.00 Transparency Statement: Sargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or an hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting the overall well-being of our employees.
