Our team of expert engineers and field technician partners with utilities, independent power producers, and energy innovators to deliver reliable, resilient, and future-ready power systems.The OpportunityWe are seeking a Protection and Control Technician I (Remote) support field teams in the inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substation protection and control systems. This role is designed for early‑career technicians who are building foundational relay testing and substation controls experience while working under close supervision.What You'll DoTravel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and high‑voltage electrical systems.Assist project lead with functional testing of substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breaker controls.Support isolation, setpoint testing, logic testing, and basic scheme testing (reclosing, breaker failure, etc.).Assist with end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, RTS, or Test Universe software to verify communication‑assisted protection schemes.Assist in installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relays, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems, and associated communication equipment.Assist in developing written standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for relays, DFRs, RTUs, IEDs, and communication systems.Generate basic customer reports describing issues found and corrective actions taken or proposed.Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with customers, vendors, and service providers.Preferred Experience1-2 years of field experience in basic relay testing, substation controls, and commissioning support under direct supervision.Associate degree in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), Electrical Engineering Technology, EE degree, military power systems training (Prime Power, Electrical Power Production, Navy Seabees), or Journeyman Electrician experience.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Valid driver's license with a good driving record.Ability to distinguish color‑coded wires, fiber optics, and related materials.Ability to work safely and follow all electrical safety proceduresOther RequirementsPass pre‑employment drug test and background check.Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 75 lbs.Regular overnight travel required.Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights.Why Join Telex?Includes competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, PTO, career growth pathways, and an innovative environment working with cutting‑edge technology.What We OfferCompetitive CompensationSalary range: $ (DOE) with performance-based incentives.BenefitsComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan + additional retirement options.Employee share ownership plan.Paid time off and holidays.
