    Position Summary
    We are seeking an experienced Property Underwriter to join our growing Middle Market Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced, transactional environment and enjoys building strong broker relationships while driving profitable growth.

    This role offers a combination of underwriting expertise, business development, and relationship management. The successful candidate will manage both new business and renewal opportunities, collaborate closely with brokers, and play a key role in expanding our Middle Market Property portfolio throughout the region.

    Location: Hybrid out of either the Melville, NY or New York City office.

    What will your job entail?

    • Underwrite and manage Middle Market Property accounts, including both new business and renewals.
    • Evaluate risks, determine coverage terms, pricing, and underwriting strategy in alignment with company guidelines.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to drive profitable growth and expand market presence.
    • Manage a high-volume underwriting workload in a fast-moving, transactional environment.
    • Review submissions, analyze exposures, and make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority.
    • Prepare and deliver competitive quotes while maintaining underwriting profitability.
    • Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure quality business.
    • Identify opportunities to grow existing broker relationships and increase market share.
    • Participate in marketing activities including broker visits, industry events, lunches, dinners, and networking opportunities.
    • Collaborate with underwriting peers and leadership to ensure outstanding service and responsiveness.
    • Stay informed on market conditions, emerging risks, underwriting trends, and competitive factors that impact business decisions.

    Training & Development

    Required Qualifications
    • 5+ years of commercial Property underwriting experience.
    • Experience underwriting Middle Market Property risks.
    • Strong technical underwriting, risk assessment, and pricing capabilities.
    • Proven ability to manage both new business and renewal accounts.
    • Experience building and maintaining broker relationships.
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume underwriting environment.
    • Understanding of commercial property insurance products, coverage forms, and underwriting principles.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, CIC, or similar.
    • Established broker relationships within the New York marketplace.
    • Experience working in a production-focused underwriting role.
