Facilities Maintenance / Property Representative – Nassau, Suffolk & Queens, NY

Field-Based Position – No Daily Office Reporting

Pay:$60.00–$65.00 per hour (based on experience)

Our client, a well-established commercial property owner with multiple shopping centers throughout Long Island and Queens, is seeking a dependable, mature professional to serve as the owner's on-site representative for maintenance and repair projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a retired or semi-retired superintendent, facilities manager, contractor, building engineer, or property manager who enjoys working independently. You'll spend your day traveling between properties, meeting vendors, overseeing repairs, and ensuring projects are completed properly. Much of the day may be spent at properties waiting for contractors to arrive, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys a flexible, low-stress work environment.

Location: Nassau County, Suffolk County & Queens, NY

Responsibilities

  • Travel to shopping centers throughout Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Queens.
  • Meet plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, roofers, and other contractors on-site.
  • Provide building access and coordinate contractor entry.
  • Walk properties with contractors and explain reported maintenance issues.
  • Observe repair work and communicate updates or concerns to property management.
  • Document completed work and provide status reports.
  • Respond to occasional maintenance issues as needed.
  • Serve as the owner's trusted representative at each property.
  • Be available for occasional evening or weekend emergency calls to provide access for emergency repairs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial buildings, facilities, construction, property management, or building maintenance.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate building-related issues involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and general maintenance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Dependable, professional, and comfortable working independently.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel throughout Nassau County, Suffolk County, and Queens.
