    CLAIM REPRESENTATIVE, MULTI-LINE (Hybrid)

    The Vermont League of Cities and Towns seeks a licensed claim professional to serve our membership of Vermont municipalities. This is an outstanding and rewarding career opportunity for a skilled multi-line property and casualty claims adjuster. The successful candidate will join our long-term property, and casualty claims team and handle auto, property, general liability and a variety of professional liability claims.  The position performs a wide range of duties, including handling minor to moderate claims, conducting thorough investigations, and evaluating damages. This position works directly for VLCT’s Property and Casualty Intermunicipal Fund (PACIF) which is a self-insured insurance association providing coverage to Vermont cities, towns, and other municipal entities.

    Requirements:

    • Current State of Vermont property and casualty adjuster’s license required, plus three to five years of property casualty claims adjusting experience.  
    • Ability to understand the claims adjudication process.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze information.
    • A valid driver’s license.
    • Experience working with self-insurance programs, public or governmental entities, and reinsurers desirable. Litigation experience is also a plus.
    • Possession of or progress toward obtaining an Associate in Claims (AIC) designation preferred.  

    The salary is commensurate with experience. Hiring salary is $61,000 - $76,000 annually. Candidates with advanced experience may be considered for a Senior Representative role. To learn more, to see a full job description and to apply, please visit www.vlct.org/careers

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conduct thorough (and on-site as needed) investigations and liability determination and negotiate settlements within established level of authority.
    • Take detailed written or audio recorded statements.
    •  Negotiate settlements when necessary.
    • Prepare proper and timely claim summary reports as required.
    • Determine liability by applying municipal statutory legal defenses and immunities.
    • Obtain and document material claim facts on assigned claims consistent with PACIF’s in-house operations manual.
    • Determine and interpret coverages as they apply to specific claims.
    • Set claim reserves to reflect current loss assessment on easy to moderate claims.
    • Prepare proofs of loss and releases.
    • Effective management of a pending case load of varying lines of business, including property, auto liability, general liability, and professional lines liability, which includes law enforcement, employment practices and public officials' liability.
    • Review, analyze, and act on medical and investigative reports.
    • Prepare comprehensive, clear, and concise technical reports as requested.
    • Recognize and resolve coverage and technical claims issues.
    • Attend selectboard meetings as necessary to investigate claims or provide claims status reports.
    • Attend and participate in virtual and in-person claim reviews, settlement conferences and mediations.
    • Recognize and pursue subrogation.
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Manager, Property Casualty Claims.
