Property Accountant Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger, account reconciliations, and supporting workpapers for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties
- The Property Accountant will prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Reconcile CAM charges and bill-backs and calculate tenant escalations in accordance with lease terms
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances and support financial reporting initiatives
- The Property Accountant will assist with quarterly and year-end financial statement preparation for investment funds
- The Property Accountant will partner with operations, property management, and accounting teams to address accounting matters and improve processes
Qualifications of the Property Accountant Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of real estate or property accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Experience with property accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
