    Property Accountant
    Location: Bethesda, MD (Onsite)
    Employment Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time


    Overview:
    A well-established residential property management organization is seeking a Property Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a portfolio of affordable housing communities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a structured, compliance-driven environment and enjoys working with complex reconciliations and reporting.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow analysis
    • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations for assigned properties
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial data in accordance with GAAP
    • Assist with year-end audit preparation, including work papers and supporting schedules
    • Support HUD REAC submissions and ensure compliance with state and regulatory reporting requirements
    • Coordinate with lenders and investors to fulfill reporting obligations
    • Track and reconcile escrows, reserves, tenant security deposits, and prepaid balances
    • Ensure compliance with HUD and state housing regulations
    • Partner with Property and Regional Managers to review budget variances and ensure accurate transaction posting
    • Support ongoing financial analysis and reporting needs for assigned portfolio
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • 2+ years of property accounting experience required
    • Experience with Yardi (Voyager/Affordable), RealPage, or OneSite preferred
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and affordable housing accounting requirements
    • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Familiarity with HUD 4350.3, REAC reporting, MOR audits, and LIHTC compliance
