Project Support Specialist

Pay Rate:$65,000–$75,000/year; Based on experience
Location:Latham, NY (On-site)
Employment Type:Direct Hire

Education:High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience:3–5 years of construction industry experience required; power utilities preferred
Skills: Experience developing and maintaining project plans and schedules required
Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required

Our growing client is seeking a highly organized Project Support Specialist to support work control, scheduling, project documentation, and field operations. This position serves as a key point of communication between the customer, field teams, and internal departments, helping ensure work orders are properly scheduled, documented, completed, and closed out.

Responsibilities of the Project Support Specialist will include:

  • Support work control processes and development of work packages
  • Establish office functions that support successful field operations
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for work order scheduling, status updates, changes, and closeout
  • Provide field support for work package revisions, field changes, and work order interpretation
  • Assist with problem resolution related to work packages and work orders
  • Coordinate with customers regarding the ordering and delivery of major materials
  • Track work order status and ensure completed work is properly captured and reported
  • Coordinate with Billing to facilitate timely and accurate invoicing
  • Ensure required project documentation is collected and organized for project closeout
  • Coordinate activities of other office personnel as needed
  • Support planning and scheduling functions across assigned work
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications for the role of Project Support Specialist:

Required:

  • 3–5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining project plans and schedules
  • Experience performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions
  • Proficiency with PC operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of work scheduling fundamentals
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in the power utility industry
  • Experience reading, evaluating, interpreting, and communicating contract provisions

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required company and client training and qualifications
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and shift work as needed
  • Ability to support emergent work requirements when called upon
  • Must pass required background, screening, and drug/alcohol screening requirements
