    Description

    1. Engineer steel structures in compliance with applicable building codes
    2. Engineer steel structures to meet customer specifications and Porter Corp design standards
    3. Review work of less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback
    4. Conceptualize and engineer steel structures using RISA-3D and other CADD software
    5. Create calculations reflecting the structural requirements for a given project
    6. Review submittal and fabrication drawings to ensure consistency with calculations
    7. Maintain internal project scheduling and coordinate with drafting and production capacities
    8. Leverage engineering knowledge and internal tools to develop multiple levels of pricing
    9. Research and communicate project-specific technical solutions
    10. Communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
    11. Participate in a team environment of open and active engagement
    12. General familiarity with the company’s facilities, processes, policies, and products
    13. Share in a company-wide philosophy of continuous improvement
    14. Perform other related duties as required

    Education and/or Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university
    2. 2 years (minimum) experience in structural engineering
    3. E.I.T. designation

    Computer Skills

    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
    • Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems

    Other Requirements

    1. Familiarity with structural analysis software is preferred
    2. Demonstrated ability in MS Office, with excellent written and communication skills
    3. Knowledge of engineering principles and product development techniques and processes
    4. Originality and judgement in the independent evaluation of new applications and products
    5. Familiarity with major building codes in the United States and their applications
