Summary:
The Project Scheduler develops and maintains schedules for utility-scale solar and BESS projects ranging from $25MM to $300MM. Working with project teams and senior scheduling staff, the Project Scheduler applies Critical Path Method (CPM) to keep engineering, procurement, civil, construction, and commissioning activities coordinated. The role emphasizes EPC execution and civil and sitework sequencing, and offers the opportunity to grow into more complex projects and portfolio-level work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6 from company templates, working with engineering, procurement, civil, construction, and commissioning teams.
- Develop and update civil and sitework schedules, including clearing and grubbing, erosion and sediment control, grading, roads, drainage, and site stabilization, accounting for weather, seasonal, and permitting constraints.
- Tie civil production rates and quantities to schedule durations, and track the handoffs from civil to mechanical and electrical work.
- Run regular schedule updates with project teams, capturing progress, logic changes, and forecast dates.
- Prepare look-ahead schedules, manpower forecasts, and schedule reports for project teams.
- Monitor the critical path and flag schedule risks, delays, and float erosion to project leadership, with recommended recovery options.
- Support schedule risk reviews and mitigation planning alongside senior scheduling staff.
- Follow company scheduling standards, coding structure, and reporting formats, and help improve them.
- Help project teams understand schedule status, the critical path, and how P6 calculates dates.
- Support resource loading and histograms for engineering and construction.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- 2+ years using Primavera P6, including schedule updates, logic, constraints, and baselines.
- 2+ years of construction experience, preferably in EPC, solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil.
- Understanding of civil and sitework sequencing, including earthwork, erosion control, and site access, and how weather affects field work.
- Working knowledge of CPM scheduling and construction workflows.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to travel to project sites at least once a month, plus occasional ad hoc visits as construction needs require.
Preferred
- Scheduling experience on utility-scale solar or BESS projects.
- Exposure to resource loading, Takt planning, or Earned Value Management.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Based at Durham, NC headquarters. Site visits are required at least once a month to walk the work, validate progress, and meet with field teams. Because construction conditions change, you may occasionally be asked to attend ad hoc meetings on site on short notice. These requests aren't frequent, but they are part of the role. Some additional travel for training may be required. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and lift up to 20 lbs, and to walk active construction sites in varying weather and terrain.
