    Position Summary:

    The Associate Director of Scholarships is responsible for the overall management of the scholarship programs. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the scholarships unit through creation of policies and procedures, oversight of full-time employees, and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and productivity of the scholarship program. The Associate Director of Scholarships provides leadership and sets goals for the Scholarships unit under the general direction of the Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships. This position collaborates across campus departments for effective and accurate service to students and families.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate and track current scholarship programs for optimum recruiting and retention effectiveness.
    • Ensures financial sustainability of scholarship programs through strategic planning and optimization of available funding
    • Oversee the processing, balancing, and reconciliation of scholarships programs, including, institutional, privately funded, pass-through, and departmental scholarships
    • Provide assistance and resources to potential and current students, parents, faculty, staff, off-campus agencies, high school counselors, and scholarship donors
    • Prepare and present institutional reports
    • Review the processing of scholarship awards determinations, ensuring awards meet institutional and donor scholarship criteria
    • Oversee work by staff and third-party vendors to ensure scholarship administration is effective and appropriate
    • Work with staff to resolve complex issues involving eligibility, funding, awarding, and disbursement of funds
    • Provide continuing education to scholarship unit staff and general financial aid staff for all regulatory, institutional, and state changes
    • Work closely with Enrollment Management Division (Admissions and Registrar) to align scholarship activities necessary for recruitment and retention of students
    • Develop, implement, maintain, and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations
    • Supervise scholarships staff and provide support to general financial aid staff regarding scholarship operations
    • Perform as other duties as assigned

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    Ability to supervise employees

    Ability to interpret laws, guidelines and regulations pertaining to financial aid and scholarship assistance

    Ability to review and evaluate student needs

    Ability to manage financial accounting for disbursement and reconciliation of scholarship accounts

    Knowledge of student financial aid programs, standards, and procedures

    Knowledge of counseling and interview techniques

    Excellent communication skills

    Experience with Microsoft Office Products

    Familiarity with Ellucian Banner products

    Experience in web-based technology and demonstrated use of technology in delivery of financial aid services

    General Days/Hours:

    Monday - Friday

    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Additional hours as requested and/or needed

    Regular and reliable attendance

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master's degree preferred with emphasis in Educational Administration, College Student Personnel Services, or a related field

    Five (5) years of experience in higher education financial aid office

    Minimum Qualifications:

    An earned Bachelor''s Degree
