Project & Program Manager - Backup Power Solutions

Pay Range: $60.97hr - $65.97hr

Job Overview:

The candidate will provide high-level leadership and direction for large-scale, complex projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic priorities. The successful candidate will develop and execute comprehensive project plans, managing budgets, timelines, risks, and resources to achieve desired outcomes. This role drives cross-functional collaboration, building consensus among stakeholders across departments and external partners. The candidate will anticipate and mitigate potential project risks and challenges, implementing solutions to maintain project momentum and success. Responsibilities include delivering regular updates and presentations to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment on project progress and key milestones. The candidate will lead continuous improvement initiatives, integrating innovative methodologies and technologies to enhance project delivery and efficiency while overseeing adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

High Level Overview:

This role manages programs within the organization's Wildfire Mitigation Program (WMP) which is part of the General Rate Case (GRC) and regulated by the Office of Energy Safety (OEIS) and the CPUC.

The candidate manages and advances programs that implement backup power solutions for sensitive critical facilities in the high fire threat district, including customer engagement, installation oversight, financial management, vendor management, compliance/regulatory management, and legal/risk management.

In addition, this role manages the ongoing oversight of completed projects that include Community Resource Centers (CRCs) that use provided backup power to remain energized during PSPS outages as required by CPUC mandates.

The successful candidate is also responsible for integrating new technologies and offerings that advance the organization's distributed energy resource management towards enhanced grid utilization.

Day to Day:

• Manages and directs multiple medium to large-sized projects within a department or business unit.
• Manages all activities leading to the successful completion of projects including project scoping, timelines, cost estimates, design, vendor management, and risk management.
• Develops and maintains parameters for project requirements including tracking and issue management.
• Provides direction to contractors, consultants, and project teams.
• Coordinates input from and participation with various other departments within the organization as needed to meet project objectives, and resolves issues to ensure successful outcomes.
• Analyzes and determines regulatory impacts and requirements of the project.
• Builds business cases and justifications for projects designed to improve business processes and/or efficiency.
• Provides team/project goals and evaluates performance.
• Researches and evaluates available contractors and consultants.
• Prepares, negotiates, and approves or recommends approval of contracts and contract changes.
• Manages related budget analysis, and prepares budget forecasts.
• May be called upon to testify before or prepare supporting documentation for government agencies concerning cost estimates.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
