Compensation

  • Base Salary: $111,000 – $139,000
  • Annual Bonus: 10%

About the Opportunity

An established Arizona utility is seeking experienced Project Managers to oversee critical water and wastewater capital improvement projects throughout the state. This is an owner's representative role responsible for managing projects from planning and design through construction and final closeout. You'll work closely with engineering consultants, contractors, operations, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that serves thousands of customers across Arizona.

Two openings are available due to internal promotion and organizational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple water and wastewater capital improvement projects simultaneously.
  • Lead projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Manage engineering consultants and review engineering designs for constructability and project objectives.
  • Coordinate permitting activities with regulatory agencies and local jurisdictions.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain project schedules and monitor milestones using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Support construction activities, field coordination, and contractor oversight.
  • Review contractor invoices, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular project status updates to leadership and key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience within the utility industry.
  • Experience managing water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Proven success delivering capital projects from initiation through construction and closeout.
  • Experience managing project budgets ranging from $1M to $5M+.
  • Strong understanding of permitting processes for utility, municipal, environmental, or construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating construction activities and managing contractors in the field.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial management skills.
  • Experience managing engineering consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Consulting engineering experience supporting utility infrastructure projects
  • Experience working with municipal utilities or regulated utility providers

Candidates with experience supporting water and wastewater infrastructure projects at consulting engineering firms, municipal utilities, or regulated utility providers are highly encouraged to apply. Experience with treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, distribution systems, collection systems, and capital improvement programs is strongly preferred.
