Project Manager Substation Programs

Location: Oakbrook Terrace, IL
Work Setup: Hybrid
Contract Length: 2-Year Contract

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager Substation Programs to support critical infrastructure initiatives across the service territory. This Project Manager role will lead multiple projects at varying stages of execution, partnering with engineering, construction, and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.

The ideal Project Manager will bring strong stakeholder management skills, financial acumen, and the ability to independently drive projects to completion in a fast-paced utility or construction environment.


Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage substation-related projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, and field operations.
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.
  • Support project prioritization and execution strategies across multiple active programs.
  • Perform site walkthroughs and travel to job sites as needed.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, schedules, reports, and financial tracking.
  • Promote project management best practices and process improvements.

Project Manager Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5 10 years of project management experience.
  • PMP Certification required.
  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited four-year institution.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to independently drive projects to resolution with appropriate stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools/software.
  • Valid transportation and willingness to travel to project/job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior utility, engineering, construction, or substation project experience.
  • Financial acumen and ability to manage project budgets effectively.
  • Experience working in hybrid work environments and cross-functional teams.
