Due to continued growth and a strong backlog of public work, our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee municipal and government construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

Our client is a highly respected General Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering public-sector and municipal construction projects throughout the Chicago area. For decades, they have partnered with municipalities, park districts, school districts, public agencies, and local governments to successfully complete projects that enhance and strengthen communities.

Description

  • Manage municipal and public-sector construction projects from award through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and financial forecasts.
  • Lead project planning, subcontractor buyout, procurement, and contract administration activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, municipalities, architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with field leadership to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Lead owner, architect, and contractor meetings while providing regular project updates.
  • Coordinate permitting, inspections, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Manage project closeout activities including punch lists, warranties, and turnover documentation.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience with a General Contractor or Construction Manager.
  • Experience managing municipal, public-sector, K-12, institutional, infrastructure, or government projects.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Experience working directly with municipalities, public agencies, and government stakeholders is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction software.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
