    The Technical Sales Manager implements automation solutions for the revamping and new installation of control systems for Intelligent Guides in Long Products Rolling Mills. Works with the Service Group, Project Management, and Technical Departments. This position is in our Danieli USA headquarters located in Cranberry, PA.

    Tasks and Day-to-Day Activities in the role:

    • Implement PLC based automation control systems that include motion control, advanced sensors, VFD drives, and actuators
    • Support existing installed systems
    • Complete sophisticated assignments requiring development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures
    • Interface and communicate with local project team (project managers, engineers, support personnel) and internal experts as well customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions to technical issues and project-related matters
    • Conduct integrated testing and simulation of entire system before delivery to the end customer
    • Perform on site commissioning and training as required
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering
    • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Experience in automation and/or automation practices
    • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal (Mandatory)
    • Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT-3 (Desired)
    • Experience commissioning electro-mechanical equipment in the Steel Industry (Desired)
    • Demonstrates ability to apply engineering principles to the solution of design problems
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills
    • Be willing to travel domestically to support commissioning projects
    • Be willing to travel internationally for training

    The Project Manager is responsible for managing all project activities related to the Nucor Steel West Virginia (NSWV) slab caster maintenance contract. The role acts as the primary coordination point between the NSWV site team, Danieli Ashland workshop, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality execution of maintenance, refurbishment, and spare parts activities.

    This position supports site operational needs, manages roll assembly repair workflows through the Ashland workshop, oversees contractual spare inventory levels, and coordinates copper mould repair and plating activities with site teams and purchasing.

    Key Responsibilities & Day‑to‑Day Activities:

    Contract & Project Management

    • Manage all activities related to the NSWV slab caster maintenance contract in compliance with contractual requirements, schedules, budget, and quality standards.
    • Analyze, open, and process jobs in accordance with Danieli Service Management Procedures.
    • Manage orders and job execution within the ERP system.
    • Track contract milestones, deliverables, and ongoing activities.

    Site & Workshop Coordination

    • Coordinate closely with the NSWV site team to support operational needs and maintenance planning.
    • Work very closely with Site Manager and support him for critical issues at site when needed.
    • Manage inbound roll assemblies to the Danieli Ashland workshop and coordinate with suppliers for required refurbishment and repairs.
    • Liaise with workshop planning to align workload, priority jobs, and delivery commitments.
    • Track completed and pending refurbishment jobs to ensure transparency and control.

    Inventory & Stock Management

    • Perform regular stock checks for NSWV contractual spares.
    • Process purchase requests for stock refilling based on consumption, minimum stock levels, and contractual obligations.
    • Conduct annual reviews of contractual stock levels by comparing actual consumption vs. expected usage.
    • Coordinate periodic internal audits with warehouse teams to ensure inventory compliance.

    Supplier & Purchasing Coordination

    • Coordinate with Purchasing and site teams for copper mould repair, refurbishment, and plating activities.
    • Support sourcing, repair planning, and supplier follow‑ups to meet delivery and quality expectations.
    • Monitor inefficiencies (e.g., delta jet losses, repair-related costs, mismanagement costs) and implement recovery or corrective actions.

    Cross‑Functional Collaboration

    • Participate in RIO meetings, when required, and support Sales during offer finalization.
    • Actively participate in internal Kick-Off Meetings (KOM) and issue related Minutes of Meeting (MoM).
    • Coordinate internally with Engineering, Production, Logistics, UT, Sales, Shipping, and Finance to ensure smooth execution.

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Manage project documentation throughout the job lifecycle, including:
    • Drafting contract variations (upon customer or Danieli request)
    • Preparing progress summary reports as required
    • Issuing contract closing reports
    • Preparing and releasing monthly internal reports
    • Managing automated customer reports and feedback collection
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
    • 3-5 years of experience in:
    • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, especially slab caster components
    • Experience coordinating workshop repairs, suppliers, and site teams
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project (ERP experience preferred)
    • Willingness to travel min 50% to Danieli facilities and customer sites
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a team‑oriented mindset
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
