Sterling Engineering is looking for a Principal Project Manager – Transmission & Substation. This opportunity is with a leading engineering services organization supporting major utility infrastructure capital projects.
Job Duties:
Lead major electric transmission and substation capital projects, including upgrades and rebuilds.
Manage large project portfolios with budgets of $25M+.
Coordinate cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with utility clients including Pacific Gas and Electric Company and NV Energy.
Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and execution strategy.
Utilize Primavera P6 for scheduling, budgeting, and workflow management.
Ensure alignment with PMI principles and best practices.
Provide technical and operational leadership across project lifecycle phases.
Hybrid schedule with weekly onsite expectations depending on project location.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
15+ years of experience in the utility sector, preferably electric transmission and substation projects.
Proven experience managing complex capital projects with budgets of $25M+.
Strong knowledge of PMI project management principles.
Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of SCADA systems and communications infrastructure.
PMP certification or advanced degree in Project Management strongly preferred.
