    Project Manager

At Salas O’Brien we tell our clients that we’re engineered for impact. This passion for making a difference applies just as much to our team as it does to our projects. That’s why we’re committed to living our values every day: inspiring, achieving, and connecting as shared owners of our success with a focus on a sustainable future.

It also means that each member of our team has truly limitless potential to build a unique, meaningful, and high-impact career—and they’ll receive great total rewards along the way.

    Job Summary:

This is an engineering design project management role focused on the design and development of construction documents—not an IT or software project management position. As a member of the engineering design staff, the Project Manager leads multidisciplinary building-systems projects and manages schedules, budgets, technical scope, design coordination, and project risk.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with project management experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related building-system design for project types such as Healthcare, Commercial, Life Sciences, Industrial, and Mission-Critical facilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the primary client and internal point of contact for assigned engineering design and construction projects.
    • Manage the design and development of coordinated MEP/FP/IT/AV/Security construction documents from planning through final deliverables.
    • Assemble, coordinate, and lead multidisciplinary technical design and review teams.
    • Work with engineering discipline leads to allocate resources appropriately.
    • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination across building-system designs and construction documents.
    • Direct and oversee project teams throughout planning, design, construction-document development, and construction administration.
    • Manage project schedules, milestones, technical scope, budgets, and progress through design and construction administration.
    • Ensure timely completion of activities and adherence to project milestones and internal project budgets.
    • Ensure company quality assurance standards are upheld.
    • Develop scopes of work and fees for proposals.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships with unparalleled responsiveness.
    • Assist with contract management, including scope adherence, fee control, and collection of receivables.
    • Facilitate solutions to technical and coordination challenges associated with the development of complex building systems.
    • Respond to project inquiries and chair project review and pre-submittal meetings.
    • Attend client meetings.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • 7–10 years of experience in mechanical or electrical consulting engineering, including project management of building-design and construction-document deliverables.
    • Experience with new construction and renovation projects.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering design coordination and construction administration; IT/software project management experience alone does not meet this requirement.
    • Ability to write reports and proposals.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or Professional Engineer licensure.
    • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

    Location: Philadelphia, PA
