Product Development Manager

Lead cross-functional product development projects from concept through launch. Drive stage-gate project execution while partnering with engineering and more.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage new product development projects through a structured stage-gate process.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, laboratory personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Product Marketing to align project deliverables with market requirements and business objectives.
  • Identify project risks, conflicts, and obstacles, and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure project success.
  • Provide regular project updates, reviews, and stage-gate status reports to leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and escalate critical issues when necessary.
  • Drive projects to successful completion while maintaining quality, cost, and schedule targets.

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience managing product development or technical product projects.
  • Proven track record leading new product development projects from concept through commercialisation.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and project management software tools.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineered products environment.
  • Ability to understand and work with mechanical systems and technical product designs.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and drive collaboration across teams.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including limited overnight travel.
