Project Manager III – Gas Transmission
Location: Houston, TX
Travel: Approximately 25%
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager III to provide technical and project management oversight for maintenance capital projects within gas transmission operations.
This role will partner closely with Area Operations and Operations Technical Staff to develop and execute projects that improve facility reliability while supporting safe, efficient, and cost-effective installation and operation.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 7–10 years of experience in gas transmission or a closely related field, with the ability to manage multiple capital projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and project management oversight for maintenance capital projects from development through construction and commissioning
- Partner with Operations and technical teams to optimize facilities for reliable operation and cost-effective installation
- Assist with project cost estimates, budgets, and material bid specifications
- Provide technical support during construction, field execution, and onsite commissioning
- Manage oversight of multiple projects while balancing priorities, schedules, risks, and operational requirements
- Identify and evaluate project risks, exposures, and opportunities that could impact successful execution
- Monitor overall project health and provide clear status reporting to management and key stakeholders
- Facilitate project meetings and communication between Operations, Engineering, contractors, management, and other stakeholders
- Coordinate directly with outside and regulatory agencies throughout project development and execution
- Support certification filings, technical responses to agency requests, and required project reporting
- Contribute to decisions surrounding project execution strategy, contractor selection, and contractor performance
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, SOPs, and O&M manuals
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including DOT and EPA requirements
- Travel to project and field locations approximately 25% of the time
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – required
- 7–10 years of experience in gas transmission or a related field
- Experience supporting or managing maintenance capital projects
- Strong understanding of engineering, construction, and commissioning activities
- Experience with project cost estimating, budgeting, risk identification, and contractor coordination
- Ability to provide technical oversight and make sound, independent project decisions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with Operations, technical teams, management, contractors, and external agencies
- Knowledge of regulated operating environments and applicable DOT/EPA requirements
- Ability to travel approximately 25%
Ideal Candidate
The strongest candidate will combine a solid engineering foundation with hands-on gas transmission project experience. We’re looking for someone who understands what it takes to move maintenance capital projects from development into successful field execution—not simply manage schedules and meetings.
Experience working directly with gas transmission facilities, Operations teams, contractors, construction activities, commissioning, regulatory requirements, and multiple concurrent capital projects will be especially valuable.
