Project Manager II

Master's degree in in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This Project Manager II role manages multiple discrete research development initiatives within the Office of Research. The position manages and executes complex, time-bound projects from initiation through completion, including research development projects, workshops, and programs. The role requires coordinating cross-functional teams; managing project timelines and deliverables; project evaluation and process improvement; developing progress reports and documentation; and ensuring successful project outcomes across diverse research support initiatives.

Strategic Project Management and Execution:

• Lead project planning, scope definition, and timeline development for research development initiatives
• Coordinate project deliverables, milestones, and timelines across projects
• Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes for discrete initiatives
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery
• Lead cross-functional teams through project phases from concept to deployment
• Proactively identify potential impediments to project success and provide solutions
• Manage vendor relationships and technical implementation processes for strategic initiatives
• Ensure projects are closed efficiently and completely

About This Role:

Assessment and Process improvement:

• Conduct post project evaluations on management strategy efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction
• Develop and implement streamlined processes to improve project completion efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction
• Lead the development of unit best practices and tools for project management and execution
• Recommend Support post-implementation evaluation and optimization processes for technology projects

Stakeholder Management and Cross-Functional Coordination:

• Serve as primary liaison between project teams, institutional partners, and external collaborators
• Maintain appropriate communication with all stakeholders to ensure awareness of any project changes and ongoing engagement
• Manage and prioritize internal and external inquiries directed to leadership, ensuring timely and appropriate responses Facilitate project meetings and stakeholder communication for complex initiatives
• Develop and deliver progress reports
• Coordinate with institutional compliance offices, legal teams, and administrative units for project-specific requirements Manage vendor and contractor relationships for project-specific deliverables
• Lead project communication strategies and status reporting to leadership

Project Documentation and Process Development:

• Develop project management templates, workflows, and documentation standards for new initiatives
• Create project assessment frameworks and success metrics for complex research support projects
• Support knowledge transfer activities between completed and new project phases

$75,000 - $85,000; commensurate with education and experience. 

• Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects in research, technology, or academic environments
• Experience with technology implementation projects and vendor management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Experience coordinating technical deployment projects and stakeholder management
• Master's degree in business administration, project management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
