Project Manager, Utilities and Civil Construction

You know how to run a utility or civil job from award to final turnover: the plans, the subs, the pay apps, and a schedule that holds. Here you'd manage your own projects, working closely with the field and the office to deliver them safely and on budget.
Blazey Construction Services is a Texas contractor doing utility construction (wet and dry utilities), civil construction, roadway construction and rehabilitation in asphalt and concrete, and pavement sub-grade work. Our customers include engineering firms, municipalities, and prime contractors. We're hiring a Project Manager to take projects from award through closeout, safely, on schedule, and within budget. You'll work every day with our Superintendents and Foremen, and with Estimating, Accounting, and Executive Leadership.
What you'll do
- Manage your assigned projects from award through final closeout.
- Build project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Read and interpret plans, specs, and contract documents.
- Handle subcontractor procurement, contracts, and performance.
- Track costs, manage change orders, and report on project financials.
- Coordinate schedules, materials, and equipment with the field.
- Be the main contact for owners, inspectors, engineers, and subs.
- Work with Superintendents on jobsite productivity, safety, and quality.
- Review and approve billing, progress payments, and job cost reports.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change requests, and contract modifications.
- Lead project meetings and job walks.
- Spot risks early, resolve issues, and avoid claims.
- Keep project documentation accurate and organized, including as-builts, warranties, final billing, and turnover documents.
What you bring
- 5 to 8 years of progressive construction, utilities, or civil project management experience.
- Experience managing utility, wet utility, or civil infrastructure projects (strongly preferred).
- A solid grasp of job cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling.
- Strong written and verbal communication, and good organization and time management.
- The ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in project management software, estimating tools, and Excel.
- Comfort working on your own and as part of a cross-functional team.
- A valid Texas driver's license. OSHA 30 is preferred.
- A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent construction and project management experience counts.
The work environment
This is mainly an office role in Houston, with regular visits to job sites. In the field, you'll follow OSHA safety standards and wear the right PPE.
