Construction Project Manager - Utilities Industry
Fort Wayne / Northeast Indiana
The Construction Project Manager leads utility construction projects from start to finish, ensuring safe execution, schedule adherence, cost control, and contract compliance. This role serves as the primary link between clients, field crews, and subcontractors while managing project performance, finances, and documentation across transmission, substation, and grid modernization work.
Responsibilities
Manage construction projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, field staff, and subcontractors.
Set up projects according to company standards, including safety plans, schedules, cost codes, document control, and billing.
Develop and track budgets, forecasts, and profitability; implement corrective actions as needed.
Prepare proposals, estimates, and material takeoffs.
Manage change orders, RFIs, and scope changes with proper documentation and approvals.
Monitor progress and communicate project status to clients and internal teams.
Lead and support field personnel while promoting safety, quality, and accountability.
Coordinate with internal project teams to support efficient execution.
Support utility construction projects including transmission, substations, and grid modernization.
Essential Skills
5+ years of construction project management experience.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, contracts, and project financials.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Proven leadership experience with field crews and subcontractors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Utility construction experience (transmission, substation, or power infrastructure).
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
Experience with high-voltage, substation, protection & control, or energized projects.
Experience preparing estimates, managing change orders, and presenting project updates.
Interest in long-term growth within the utility construction industry.
Work Environment
This position is based in a Fort Wayne, IN office with a standard Monday-Friday schedule. Minimal travel is required, with occasional site visits. The role involves close collaboration with project teams and field personnel, supporting utility construction projects that focus on safety, quality, and critical infrastructure delivery.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
