Project Manager - Finance & Accounting

This contract position supports Finance and Accounting software delivery projects, emphasizing hands-on project execution, cross-functional coordination, risk and issue management, Agile delivery operations, and vendor-ready communication across technical and business stakeholders. The role is based in Glendale, California, and is available for a 5+ month engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of software development projects from Initiation through Closure.
• Plan, coordinate and direct all activities associated with creating and maintaining project plans, communication plans, risks and issues.
• Leverage experience with Agile and SCRUM methodologies to lead project teams daily toward successful delivery of software development projects.
• Manage team dynamics, morale and motivation while building a culture where all members and points of view are respected.
• Deliver quality solutions that provide desired business benefits and solve business problems on-time and within budget.
• Lead Project Teams through the identification and management of risks and the resolution of issues, escalating to management as appropriate.
• Solve complex problems in a challenging, dynamic environment with minimal direction.
• Provide frequent and transparent communication to business and technical senior management, project teams and stakeholders regarding project health, issues and risks.
• Communicate complex and difficult information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including Executives.
• Influence key decision-makers and stakeholders toward new business processes and technical solutions.
• Facilitate meetings and workshops with large groups of people beyond the project team.
• Facilitate the project team through the resolution of complex issues.
• Ensure group participation and drive workshops and meetings to conclusion with actionable outcomes.
• Develop and deliver outcomes, results and notes appropriate to the level of the group.

Qualifications

• Required

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical program management and software application development.

• Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager for cross-functional agile teams.

• Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence supporting agile methodologies.

• Experience with the software development life cycle.

• Experience leading projects for software systems and workflows that require maintaining compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).

• Super User and working knowledge of the Claude AI tool to improve technical software development delivery, business and metric performance reporting.

• Ability to anticipate working with teams on East or West Coast hours, with flexibility to work outside of regular office hours to accommodate important meetings in different time zones.

• Desire to learn and take on additional responsibilities as appropriate.

• Preferred

• Advanced knowledge of Atlassian Suite tools including Jira and Confluence.

• Working knowledge of modern software development tools, processes and practices, including Airtable and Smartsheet.

• Exposure to a wide range of productivity tools, including collaboration software such as MS Teams and standard MS Office tools.

• Experience leading high-value Accounting and Payments software systems projects.
