Project Manager Data Center Operations

Job Title: Project manager - Data Center Operations 
Location: Boydton , VA 
Salary Range: $110/hr to $120/hr on W2 

Introduction

The role supports Mechanical Engineering Operations by leading cross-functional operational excellence, reliability, and sustainability initiatives across multiple Client data center sites. This position serves as the central point of coordination for projects, driving execution from planning through delivery while partnering with engineering, operations, vendors, and leadership to ensure consistent, efficient implementation across the metro region.

Location & Travel

Boydton, Virginia. Supports multiple Client data center sites within the Southern Virginia metro region. Approximately 25–40% local travel between sites.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3 years of project or program management experience, preferably in technical, infrastructure, construction, or mission-critical environments.
• Experience supporting Client or hyperscale data center environments.
• Background in Operational Excellence, Reliability Engineering, Sustainability, or infrastructure operations.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
• Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and site-based operational activities.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
• General understanding of data center operations, critical infrastructure, mechanical systems, vendor management, and project delivery.
• Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to coordinate projects across geographically distributed teams and influence without direct authority.
• Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Manage multiple concurrent operational improvement projects across regional data center sites, ensuring timely execution, risk mitigation, and successful delivery.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, status reporting, and executive-ready documentation.
• Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving Mechanical Engineering, Site Operations, Critical Environment (CE), Reliability Engineering, Sustainability, Operational Excellence, vendors, and data center leadership.
• Facilitate project meetings, track action items, manage dependencies, and drive stakeholder accountability.
• Coordinate vendor and contractor activities, including scheduling, site readiness, and execution planning.
• Support operational excellence initiatives by standardizing project execution, improving reliability, and driving continuous process improvements.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks and blockers, and escalate issues to ensure successful outcomes.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, metrics, and reporting to support informed decision-making.
