The City of Chesapeake's Department of Public Works is seeking a motivated, experienced, and highly organized professional to join our Facilities Maintenance team as a Project Manager. This position plays a key role in overseeing the maintenance, renovation, and construction of City-owned facilities, helping ensure that municipal buildings remain safe, functional, efficient, and sustainable for the employees and residents who rely on them.
The Facilities Maintenance Division serves as the City's central resource for the maintenance, repair, renovation, and energy management of City-owned buildings and facilities. The Project Manager provides leadership and oversight for a wide range of facility-related projects, coordinating with City staff, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects are completed efficiently, within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with applicable standards and codes.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, planning, public administration, architecture, urban design, or closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of six years of relevant, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record in compliance with the City Driving Standards.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications related to engineering and maintenance disciplines highly preferred but not required.
