    The Project Manager is responsible for managing the efficient design and technical execution involved in providing Engineering support to the Cherokee plant. The PM plans, conducts and manages complex engineering activities in support of specific projects requiring origination and application of new and unique approaches, from project initiation through acceptance of the final product by the customer. Usually manages either larger project team or higher-level technical specialists or projects with a high degree of customization.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Evaluates project assignments, confirms and clarifies project objectives and goals.
    • Ensures that all engineering deliverables for assigned projects are identified and prioritized in a project execution plan.
    • Measures engineering's on-time delivery performance for critical deliverables.
    • Monitors and controls overall project engineering expenses, schedules and processes. Revises and updates project plan as required.
    • Anticipates project performance problems and implements appropriate measures, systems and lines of communication to ensure timely project completion.
    • Manages the improvement of operating efficiencies at key points in the Project Engineering process.
    • Responsible for the technical content of the project. Coordinates new designs and conducts design review meetings.
    • Obtains client and classification society technical approvals.
    • Enforces conformance with defined technical and HSE requirements with design reviews and ensures that corrective actions are completed as required.
    • Documents and manages the design change control and technical query process.
    • Manages the human resource functions of assigned teams including, performance appraisals, engaging employees in process improvement initiatives and coaching and counseling team. Recommends hiring, firing and salary and job change actions.
    • Responds to customer technical inquiries. Prepares technical data, presentations and papers for sales, project team and customers.
    • Develops monthly forecasting of the engineering resources (internal and external if required) to support project plans, product development, product maintenance, quotations and special projects. Schedules internal and external resources (where needed).
    • Ensures that project staff has adequate resources to effectively meet objectives.
    • Helps define and monitor Engineering policies and procedures for assigned area and synchronizes with project management and operations functions.
    • Implements cross-discipline DWI's.
    • Works with Quality team to develop and implement quality and testing requirements for products in assigned area. Helps define, implement and monitor measurements for continuous improvement of engineering performance and product cost reductions.
    • Supports Sales and Marketing with technical strategy and experience to maintain current accounts and to capture new business.
    • Is expected to independently analyze situations and data to determine best course of action and to make positive and active contributions to assist the organization in achieving its key financial and growth goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    • BS Degree in Engineering. Advanced technical degree or coursework toward advanced degree preferred.
    • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and specifications, engineering and manufacturing processes.
    • 8+ years of engineering experience preferably in offshore oil industry, shipbuilding industry, or mooring systems; experience in at least two engineering disciplines
    • 3+ years related engineering project lead or supervisory experience including process improvement successes, managerial accounting and budget preparation and cost control responsibility.
    • Expert knowledge of project engineering with ability to take on any project engineering role assigned.
    • Expert knowledge of project engineering with ability to visualize end product and articulate to team in order to integrate efforts.
