    Description

    The purpose of the project manager occupation is to manage and/or direct the development and implementation of technical and/or specialized projects to assist management in planning and controlling the various aspects of assigned project(s).

    Key Responsibilities: The Project Manager 1 -(Project Controller PM) monitors & controls project execution by:

    • Actively managing & tracking all project costs through the state's project management software (PMS)
    • Communicates the financial health of projects to the Adjutant General's Department (ADJ) leadership team
    • Measures project performance against the schedule & budget & analyzes the financial impact of change orders, supporting the change order process for the broader project team
    • Reviews payment processing tasks through OAKS-CI & provides direction to Project Managers regarding any shortfalls
    • Tracks & logs project issues & risks; evaluates the effectiveness of mitigation efforts
    • Acts as ADJ liaison with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) & outside agencies to increase the overall effectiveness of the State's PMS
    • Works with the Design & Project Management (DPM) team to forecast ongoing & future project timelines & needs
    • Manages project financial & schedule planning
    • Manages project reporting, communication, & closure
    • Attends meetings, training sessions, & professional conferences to remain current with industry standards & agency policies

    3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal); 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.

    • Or successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned; 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
    • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Previous experience working with the Military with understanding of Federal/State financial splits.

    • Previous experience working with OAKs-CI.

    • Previous experience with budget, tracking cost, and managing financial resources.

    • Understanding on OAKs-Fin.
