    Job Summary

    The ECA Project Lead The Way (PLTW) STEM Club Sponsor for 7th grade is responsible for organizing, supervising, and leading an after-school STEM enrichment program focused on hands-on, project-based learning. This position provides students with opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts through Project Lead The Way-aligned activities that promote creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. The sponsor supports student engagement in STEM pathways while fostering a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.

    Essential Functions

    • Organize, supervise, and lead the after-school PLTW STEM Club for students in 7th grade.
    • Develop and facilitate hands-on STEM activities aligned with Project Lead The Way curriculum and STEM standards.
    • Plan engaging, age-appropriate lessons and projects that promote engineering design, coding, scientific inquiry, and problem-solving skills.
    • Encourage student participation, teamwork, and positive collaboration in all STEM activities.
    • Supervise students at all times during after-school sessions, ensuring a safe and structured environment.
    • Guide students through the engineering design process, including planning, building, testing, and improving projects.
    • Support students in the use of STEM tools, materials, and technology.
    • Coordinate materials, supplies, and equipment needed for club activities.
    • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administration regarding program expectations, schedules, and events.
    • Maintain attendance records, activity documentation, and program inventory as required.
    • Promote interest in STEM careers and pathways.
    • Ensure adherence to school policies, safety procedures, and district guidelines.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

    Qualifications

    • Valid Indiana teaching license preferred but not required unless otherwise specified by district policy.
    • Experience in STEM education, Project Lead The Way, engineering, science, math, coding, or related fields preferred.
    • Ability to plan and facilitate hands-on, engaging, project-based learning activities.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
    • Ability to motivate and engage elementary and middle school students in STEM learning.
    • Experience with educational technology, coding platforms, or engineering tools preferred.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to supervise students in active, hands-on learning environments.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist students during STEM activities.
    • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 25-50 pounds.
    • Ability to set up and manage classroom or lab-based STEM stations.
