The Project Lead is the primary facilitator and owner of all aspects of assigned projects from contract execution through project completion and closeout. This role serves as the single primary point of contact for the customer throughout the project lifecycle, with the objective of minimizing handoffs and involvement from additional team members.

The Project Lead is responsible for coordinating all project activities with internal teams and external partners, including utilities, building departments, finance entities, subcontractors, and internal labor teams, while ensuring accurate communication, timeline adherence, and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate fully designed and engineered projects spanning all levels of complexity, ensuring alignment with Baker processes, standards, and performance KPIs.
  • Serve as the liaison between the homeowner and Engineering, translating technical information into clear, customer‑friendly communication.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the entire project lifecycle, from contract execution through final billing, providing consistent updates on key milestones.
  • Conduct a formal Project Kickoff, including a Welcome Call to confirm project scope, expectations, and estimated timelines.
  • Present and explain change orders to customers when required, ensuring all changes are documented and tracked within the project management platform.
  • Partner with internal teams to request and coordinate funding for lease and loan projects at the appropriate milestones to maintain project schedules.
  • Interface directly with utility companies to coordinate service upgrades, interconnections, and other utility‑related project requirements.
  • Oversee subcontracted work and coordinate activities between subcontractors and internal teams throughout the project duration.
  • Coordinate with Field Operations and the Labor Team to schedule manpower for pre‑installation and installation‑related work.
  • Actively manage project timelines and overall project volume to support monthly and annual production goals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation within Salesforce and related project management platforms, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed and accounted for.
  • Ensure all assigned projects are kept current and accurate in the project management system.
  • Perform overtime work as required to meet departmental and company operational needs.
  • Keep up to and be able to understand and speak to industry related frequently asked questions

COMPENSATION:

The base pay for this position is $70,304 per year.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, some college preferred.
  • 3+ years of project coordination or management experience in solar industry.
  • Years of experience may vary, based on completion of Baker Training program.
  • Proven experience leading the coordination of multiple projects with success.
  • Experience working in the larger construction industry is preferred.
  • Proven experience provides the highest level of customer service, communicating with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
  • PM education or certification is a plus
  • Electrical knowledge or certifications is a plus

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Electrical project complexity - Electrical (LCTI), solar, energy storage, new construction and ground mounts
  • Ability to proficiently support various types of projects
  • Aptitude for broadening electrical knowledge past solar and roofing basics

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standard office environment. Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
