    Title:

    Project & Joint Venture Accounting Manager

    KBR is seeking experienced and commercially minded Project & Joint Venture Accounting Manager to lead the accounting and financial reporting activities for KBR's strategic joint venture and project portfolio.

    This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, revenue recognition, project accounting, backlog integrity, forecasting and compliance across a portfolio of large engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will partner closely with project controls, commercial teams, project management, Chennai project accounting, corporate accounting and external joint venture partners to deliver high-quality financial information and continuous process improvements.

    This position combines technical accounting expertise with strong business partnering and operational finance support.

    Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    Project Accounting & Financial Reporting

    • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close activities for assigned projects and joint ventures.
    • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
    • Ensure accurate project accounting in accordance with US GAAP and KBR policies.
    • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and management commentary.
    • Analyze financial results and explain variances to budget, forecast and prior periods.
    • Support balance sheet governance and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
    • Maintain audit-ready documentation supporting all accounting entries.

    Joint Venture Accounting

    • Manage accounting for equity-method investments, at-cost investments and non-controlling interests.
    • Review JV financial statements, capital calls, distributions and ownership changes.
    • Prepare monthly equity method accounting entries.
    • Review earnings recognition, investment balances and backlog.
    • Coordinate with JV operators and partners to obtain financial information.
    • Ensure compliance with JV agreements and accounting requirements.
    • Support quarterly fair value assessments where required.

    Revenue Recognition

    • Review complex project accounting and revenue recognition.
    • Provide technical guidance to Chennai project accounting teams.
    • Ensure project entries comply with ASC 606 / US GAAP.
    • Review contract modifications, estimates at completion and revenue adjustments.
    • Support quarterly revenue certification processes.

    Backlog

    • Own monthly backlog reporting and submissions.
    • Review awards, acquisitions and ending backlog.
    • Validate backlog accuracy with project teams.
    • Review joint venture associated projects where KBR or other affiliate may act as a customer or subcontractor to ensure appropriate backlog is reported.

    Project Business Partnering

    • Attend monthly project status reviews with Project Controls and Project Management.
    • Support project managers on financial performance.
    • Review forecasts, costs, accruals and estimates at completion.
    • Closely monitor project spending and address project challenges such as liquidity issues, difficult national jurisdictions, and customer disputes.
    • Assist project teams with financial decision making.
    • Partner with teams to address complex and unique contract clause such as non-cash considerations and client investments

    Budgeting & Forecasting

    • Prepare annual project and JV budgets.
    • Partner with JV contacts to ensure budget information is provided timely and analyzed for use in KBR total budgets, including both earnings and distributions.
    • Support EPC planning assumptions and initiatives
    • Participate in long-range planning exercises.
    • Support monthly forecasting activities for projects and joint venture earnings
    • Review project cash flow forecasts and joint venture contributions and distributions.

    Controls & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with SOX and internal controls.
    • Work with JV partners to ensure proper support and documentation is complete for JV related controls.
    • Support Internal Audit and external audit requests.
    • Prepare revenue certifications and supporting documentation.
    • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations as needed.
    • Maintain documented accounting procedures.
    • Support continuous improvement of financial controls.

    Process Improvement & Transformation

    • Drive improvements in project accounting processes.
    • Support ERP, MSD, EPM and finance transformation initiatives.
    • Improve automation, reporting quality and data integrity.
    • Work with project accounting teams to standardise processes globally.
    • Implement the use of AI where able to create substantial value within the accounting and finance organization.
    • Support implementation of new project structures and system enhancements.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
    • 7+ years' experience in project accounting, joint venture accounting or construction accounting.
    • Strong understanding of US GAAP
    • Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606)
    • Experience with Investment related accounting such as ASC 321 (Investment in Equity Securities) and ASC 323 (Equity Method Investments)

    Preferred Education & Skills:

    • CPA
    • Experience in large engineering, EPC or energy organizations
