Project/Floor Care Technician – Benedict Campus Facilities- Nights  Monday to Friday 3pm-11:30pm

 

Thompson FacilitiesServices is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Project/Floor Technician who will maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of flooring surfaces throughout the campus of Benedict College. This position is responsible for performing specialized floor care services including stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning, and preventative maintenance in academic buildings, residence halls, administrative offices, dining facilities, and common areas.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting a safe and welcoming campus environment.

Responsibilities:

 

 This job requires the use of specialized power equipment.

  • Perform floor maintenance services including stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, scrubbing, and polishing hard surface floors
  • Clean and maintain carpeted areas using extractors, shampooers, and spot-cleaning equipment
  • Operate and maintain floor care machinery including auto scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, vacuums, and carpet extractors
  • Inspect flooring conditions and report damages, hazards, or maintenance concerns to supervisors
  • Follow established schedules for preventative floor maintenance and deep cleaning projects
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrances, hallways, classrooms, dining areas, restrooms, and other campus facilities
  • Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment according to OSHA and company safety guidelines
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and emergency cleaning requests as needed
  • Maintain supply inventory and notify management when materials or equipment require replacement or repair
  • Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and properly marked with caution signage during floor care operations
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality required

This is an "essential" position that may require working during inclement weather events.

Active college and university campus environment at Lincoln University

Fast-paced setting with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and guests

May require flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, or special campus events

Qualifications:

 

  • Previous floor care, custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience operating commercial floor care equipment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of floor care procedures for tile, vinyl, hardwood, concrete, and carpeted surfaces
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality required
